It has been a perfect autumn for fishing. No, I haven't been packing the easel as we all know I should be doing but it is hard to do so while managinga fly rod from thigh deep in a perfect riffle of cool, clear water and attempting to present a fly to what may possibly be the next fighting rainbow to come dancing out of the water on the end of the line. No, sir. This is one time when one must make the most of the moment and do the dance the way it is meant to be done. When a hot afternoon sun is filtering down through the cottonwoods and a caddis fly hatch is just coming on in the cool shadows one must remain focused, ready and aware. Yup, the slightest roll in the water, a dorsal fin or a shadow beneath the surface and one has to get into action quickly. Then, if all goes according to plan, one can enjoy the hit of the fish and the ensuing battle of wits. The rainbows have been particularly active and entertaining of late but we here in Nye are just preparing for the running of the Browns. I will keep you posted on that front as it plays out.
As for the art scene I did manage to paint a couple of watercolors so far this month. I submitted an application to the Buffalo Bill Museum Art Auction for next year, ( we have our tickets for this year's event next weekend) and am working on a submission to the Yellowstone Art Museum auction. The weather is so nice, though... I think I heard a fish jump... gotta go! Thanks for dropping by!
