Howdy. I'm glad you dropped by. Thank you. I just finished a 24x36 oil of a timber wolf in a snow scene. I hope you like it. You can view it in New Work. It was a fun painting to do and came off quickly compared to some. I must be on a wild life kick after all those tee pees getting ready for the Quick Draw last month. I started a mountain lion as well as the wolf.
It sure is good to see spring finally getting to the neighborhood. You'd think that after all that time in Phoenix that I would have been fine with the snow. The last gasps of winter are always trying, though. The grass is beginning to turn green now so I think we may have made it. My first crocuss popped up this morning. I celebrated that fact by going fishing with my good friend and neighbor Buck Griffin. We went down to the Grampa's cabin on the Stillwater and caught some very fine fish. We were looking for spawning rainbows and did catch a few but our biggest fish were actually browns. It felt good to be standing in the water where I spent the summers of my youth, not a care in the world but where to place the next cast.
I made another trip to the river last week looking for inspiration for the next painting. I pulled in at a nice pool with mountains in the back ground and was enjoying a couple of geese that were swimming around when motion caught my eye and a huge big horn ram stood up from his bed on the cliffs above. I think it might be a good bet that scene will be showing up on New Work one of these days.
A picture of the horse painting I did for Montana Jack's (Rolling Thunder) will be showing up on a billboard west of Billings on I-90 pretty soon. It was chosen as a back drop for Whitebird Gallery and I am very proud of that. Keep an eye out for it next time you are heading down the trail there.
Well, again, I appreciate those of you who keep checking in. It means a lot to me that you take the time to do so. Thank you. See you in May. From, Tom
